Sunday Morning

The most important time of every week at Christ The King is Sunday morning.

That's when we gather as a church family to worship God, to grow in our faith, and to renew our ties with one another.

Why not come by this Sunday?  We'd love to see you!

Worship Services.  We offer two very different worship services every Sunday morning, to meet individuals' differing needs. Both services include communion every week.

In the racks on the pew in front of you you'll find a Bible and a hymnal (Evangelical Lutheran Worship).  The Scripture Lessons that we read during worship are found in the Bible (and projected on a screen behind the altar); and the songs are found in the hymnal.

Hearing assistance units are available for those with difficulty hearing.  An usher will be glad to assist you.

Please take time to complete the Connection Card you received from the ushers with your bulletin, and then drop it in the offering plate later in the service.

Classic Worship at 9:00 A.M. Our first service of the morning, from 9:00 to 10:00, is the more traditional of the two. It employs elements of our Lutheran liturgy, with roots that go back for centuries. The worship experience is enhanced by special music from our Choir, soloists and special ensembles.

Progressive (Contemporary) Worship  Our second service, from 11:15 to 12:15 (summer from 10:30 to 11:30), is the more informal service, employing a wide range of musical styles, from folk to reggae to contemporary praise music. On a typical Sunday you'll find a mixture of ancient prayers, video clips, provocative images and inspiring music.

Communion Information

You need not be a member of Christ the King or any other Lutheran church to receive Communion; it is offered to all who seek an encounter with the Risen Christ.

When you come forward for Communion, you'll be met at the head of the center aisle and given a piece of bread.  Move to either side where two assistants will be waiting with cups -- the pottery cup holds grape juice and the pewter cup holds wine.  Dip the bread in either cup, consume it, then return to your seat by the side aisles.

You may request prayers for healing for yourself or on behalf of someone else.  Once you have communed, simply kneel or stand at the altar rail, where someone will pray with you before you take your seat.

Children who have not received special Communion instruction (which we offer during 4th and 5th grade) are invited to come to the altar rail to recieve a blessing.

Nursery Care. Professional nursery care is provided at all our worship services, for children up through kindergarten age.  The Church Nursery can be found by going down the corridor at the end of the Entrance Hall, then turning to the right.  An usher would be glad to direct you.

Christian Education Hour.  Every Sunday morning from 10:10 to 11:10 you'll find growth opportunities for the whole family -- from three-year-olds to adults. (Check for Vacation Bible School times in the summer.)

Children's Ministry - Jesus and Friends (our ministry for children from age 3 through sixth grade) gathers each Sunday morning for fun, learning, music and crafts.

Youth Ministry. On Sunday mornings, teenagers from seventh through twelfth grade meet in three different class-groupings. And there's lot's more happening beyond Sunday morning, too! For more information and registration for Children and Youth Ministry Click HERE!

Adult Education. Classes for adults are also offered every Sunday morning.

In addition to the ongoing Sunday Adult Forum, special classes are offered on a variety of topics throughout the year. And looking beyond Sunday mornings, our network of small groups provides a host of ways to make friends and grow closer to God. Restrooms are located at the end of the corridor at the other end of the Entrance Hall. Handicap accessible restroom in the back corner of the Entrance Hall.
