Lukus Wells, Progressive Worship Music Director
Lukus grew up in Barton NY, near Owego, and his musical talents emerged at an early age. He's a versatile musician with an enchanting voice; he plays a range of instruments, from piano and guitar to harp and Native American flute.
Lukus is in demand as a performer at such local venues as the Rivermews Cafe and Merlin's. You can catch his appearance schedule (and some videos) on his MySpace page.
Lukus has brought a fresh and youthful perspective to our 11:15 worship service. That service, launched in 1992, was originally in the "contemporary worship" style of the 1990s: heavy on "praise songs" and light on elements like communion. But with guidance from Lukus, the service has become far richer and deeper, evolving into a style we call "Progressive Worship" or "Post-contemporary Worship." It combines secular songs and modern worship music with traditional elements, some dating back to the Middle Ages. It's a service you need to experience!
Lukus brings laughter and creativity to the weekly planning sessions with Pastors Mark and Nadine, where the design of each week's progressive service takes shape. His deep spirituality and abundant musical gifts have been a real gift to our congregation!
